Two Norwalk Firefighters sustained minor injuries this past Saturday after a small explosion in the apparatus bay of the fire station.

The incident occurred during the department’s annual pancake breakfast sponsored by the Norwalk Firefighters Association, at approximately 9:20 am Saturday morning. A preliminary investigation showed that the explosion was caused by an aerosol can of non-stick cooking spray that was sitting adjacent to a cooking service. Both firefighters were transported and subsequently treated and released from a local hospital with minor injuries.

No guests in attendance of the pancake breakfast were injured in the incident.
