Lopsided dual wins by the boys and girls tennis teams highlighted Norwalk’s spring sports calendar on Thursday as four teams competed.
Boys Tennis wins 10-1
The Warrior tennis boys nearly claimed every varsity match at Dallas Center-Grimes, winning 10-1. Tyler Stiegelmeier and Drew Lents outlasted their singles opponents in super tiebreakers while Adrian Bush, Braylon Stockwell, Corbin Oswald and Wyatt Coburn each won in straight sets. Norwalk won four out of five in doubles play, all by lopsided scores. The Warriors improved to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the Little Hawkeye Conference and will play at Indianola this afternoon.

Girls Tennis wins 9-2
The Norwalk girls tennis team improved to 2-0 with a decisive 9-2 victory over DC-G. Katie Larson, Grace Dehmer, Tessa Livingston and Julia Palen all won singles matches in straight sets while Sutton McNelly won via third-set super tiebreaker. The Warriors, who went 5-1 in singles play and 4-1 in doubles, will host Ames on Monday afternoon.

Girls Golf 2nd at Newton
Placing three individuals in the top eight, the Norwalk girls golfers placed second out of eight teams at the Newton Cardinal Invite, played on the back nine of the Westwood Golf Course. The Warriors shot a team score of 183, trailing first-place Williamsburg by just two strokes. Ava Garvey paced the Norwalk scorecard with a third-place round of 44, Addie Smith shot a 45 for sixth place and Evelyn Kinney placed eighth with a 46. Allie Soukup (48) and Lillian Garvey (49) also broke 50. The Warriors’ next meet is the Little Hawkeye Conference Tournament on Tuesday at Willow Creek.
Girls Track 7th at Ankeny
The Norwalk track and field girls scored 22 points and finished seventh out of eight teams at the Ankeny Invite. Ankeny Centennial won the meet handily with a score of 145. Hailey Gear had a good night for Norwalk in the sprints, placing third in both the 100 and 200-meter dash. Gear also led off the Warriors’ fifth-place sprint medley relay, teaming with Jaylynn Brandt, Nyah Hulbert and Ashlyn Brown. Next up is the Norwalk Coed Invitational on Monday.
