The Pella Public Library is continuing to host events in the month of April.
On Monday, April 15th, the library will be hosting a game night to learn the board game Carcassonne. Mike Smith will lead the game night, starting with an introduction of the game and how to play. In Carcassonne, players are able to shape the medieval landscape of France. Multiple sets of the game will be available for groups to play for as long as time allows. Registration for the event is suggested for planning purposes and a link to register can be found here. The game night will take place in the library’s Heritage Room at 6 pm and is free and open to ages 14 and older.
On Monday, April 22nd, the Pella Public Library will continue its Culture Night Series with Poland. Danuta Hutchins will share about the history and culture of Poland through her presentation: Herbert Hoover’s Role in Distributing Food in Post World War I and World War II in Europe. As a child, Dr. Hutchins experienced firsthand President Hoover’s distribution of food in Poland after World War II. A chapter in her book, Torn Out Memories, gives details of those experiences and her connection with the Hoover birthplace in West Branch. Culture Night: Poland will take place in the Library’s Meeting Room at 6:30 pm, and is free and open to the public.
