The Pella Christian girls tennis team improved to 2-1 on the spring with an 11-0 road sweep at Saydel Monday evening, while the boys soccer squad fell to 3-2 on the year with a 3-1 road loss at Des Moines Christian.
In singles play for the Eagles girls tennis team, Rachel Lanferman was an 8-3 winner in the top spot in the lineup, while Reagan DeVries added an 8-6 win in the number two spot. Leah Mulder added an 8-3 win at number three, Ava Breems and Lexi Branderhorst were each victorious 8-1 in the number four and five matches, and Addie Van Arendonk won 8-4 at number six. In double play, DeVries and Van Arendonk nabbed an 8-0 victory in the top spot of the lineup. On the soccer pitch, the Eagle boys struggled to find the net in a physical game against Des Moines Christian. The Lions built up a 2-0 lead that they carried into halftime, before adding another goal in the second half. Pella Christian tried to rally late, as Ethan Van Arendonk scored on a breakaway feed from Camden Parker in the 76th minute, but that was all the offense the Eagles could muster in the loss.
The Pella Christian boys soccer team returns home tonight for a 5:30 pm game against Norwalk at the Pella Sports Park, while the girls tennis squad is off until their match at Newton on Thursday.
