Tuesday was a rather busy but largely successful day for Knoxville sports teams.

Schmidt’s Goal, Cecil’s Saves Give Knoxville Boys Soccer Victory Over DSM Christian

The Boys Soccer Squad scored a 1-0 win over Des Moines Christian. The match was scoreless at halftime as both teams had multiple chances to convert on goals. Just under 6:00 into the 2nd half, the Panthers dented the scoreboard with an Ezra Schmidt header to put the game’s only tally on the board. Knoxville’s defense and goalie Carson Cecil did the rest coming up with six saves on the night. Knoxville will travel to Bondurant-Farrar on Thursday.

Knoxville Girls Tennis Defeats Grinnell

The Knoxville Girls Tennis Squad defeated Grinnell on Tuesday 7-4. The Panthers took four of the singles matches including Janie Maasdam winning over her opponent in straight sets 6-0, 6-1, Kate Schneider winning 6-4, 6-2, while Marlea Cox and Bridgette Liston also picked up singles wins. The Panthers also took three of four doubles matches. Knoxville will host Clarke on Thursday.

Knoxville vs Grinnell

Knoxville Girls Golf 3rd, Roozeboom Sets Personal Record For 18 Holes

The Knoxville Girls Golf Squad played its first 18 hole meet of the season in Centerville and placed 3rd out of seven teams. The Panthers shot a team score of 418. Individually Faith Roozeboom shoots her high school best for 18 holes at 79 winning the meet by six shots. Knoxville heads to Moravia on Thursday.

Knoxville Boys Track and Field Performs Well At Chariton

The Knoxville Boys Track and Field Squad had some good performances at the Chariton Invitational on Tuesday. 1st place medals went to Koby Higginbotham in the 110 hurdles in a time of :15.03 Kaiden Smith was right behind in 2nd with a time of :16.24. Austin Washington was also a winner in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet three inches. The Panthers finished in 4th place with 118 points
