The Indianola School District will have more funds awarded to them from the state in the coming years due to the Area Education Agency reforms, that will provide school districts with funds that would have previously gone to the AEA’s. Superintendent Ted Ihns tells KNIA News the district and school board will have to go through some serious discussions about how to progress forward.
“What services will continue to be provided by AEA’s and what won’t? Do we want to continue the services with the money that will be funneled back to the school districts with them. So there’s all kinds of different scenarios that will be out there. We are in a better situation than some of our smaller districts because of our proximity and who we might be able to potentially partner with for some of these things. But the further you get out, it will be much more difficult with the way the AEA situation is right now.”
