It was a success-filled Thursday for the sports teams that competed from Pella High School despite strong winds throughout the afternoon and evening.
The #3 in 2A Dutch girls soccer team knocked off the #2 in 1A Gilbert girls on the road 2-0. Bri Shannon scored on a pair of long-range goals — one in each half and one of which was assisted by Abby Warner. Madison Holland earned saves on all nine shots-on-goal from the Tigers. Pella improves to 4-1 overall and continues their gauntlet of a week by hosting #2 in 2A Waverly-Shell Rock in a 2023 state semifinals rematch at Pella High School Saturday.
Pella’s girls golf team battled the elements at the Pella Golf and Country Club but defeated Oskaloosa in a dual 196-229. Medalists for the Dutch were Karsyn Lyons and Emerson Lee with 44 scores. Mackenzie Johnston (53) and Sophia Reynolds (55) rounded out the scoring. Pella returns to their home course Monday for a Marion County quad with Knoxville, PCM, and Pleasantville.
