The Knoxville Boys Tennis Squad placed 6th at its own invitational on Saturday. It was a tough day for the Panthers, who had to deal with state powers Pella and North Polk, who finished one/two in the meet respectively. Henry Picard was the only Panther player to win their opening round match of the day as he defeated Cooper Ripprecht of Oskaloosa 8-1 before losing to Austin Schnell of Saydel 8-3 in the quarterfinals. Picard was sent to the consolation bracket where he defeated Cam Cassens of Oskaloosa 8-0, but his day came to an end against Ben Van Gorp of Pella 8-2 in the consolation semi-finals. The Panthers will take on Chariton on Tuesday.

Knoxville Invitational

Four Knoxville Sports Squads are playing on Monday as the Girls Golf, Girls Tennis, Girls and Boys Soccer squads all see game action. The golfers will head to the Pella Golf and Country Club for a triangular against the Dutch and Pleasantville while Girls Tennis hosts Pella Christian and the soccer squads will go their separate ways with the girls traveling to play Central Iowa United. That match will take place at West Marshall High School. The boys will host PCM. The Panthers have been playing bigger and tougher competition to start the season and look at this week as a confidence builder playing the Mustangs tonight and Chariton on Friday Coach Dylan Mick sees this week as a chance to score goals.

Mick: “I think that is that there is a chance to score some goals, and that’s why on the higher levels, the dudes that score goals are paid more and anyone because scoring goals is hard.”

Knoxville will host the Mustangs with varsity set to begin at 7:00.
