The Pella City Council is holding a public hearing Tuesday for the fiscal year 2025 budget. If approved, the plan for $69.5 million in spending across city departments and projects would be the official road map moving forward. The budget proposal includes a property tax rate increase for the first time in the City of Pella in more than two decades, and would move up to $10.75 per $1,000 of valuation. City administration cites the cost of operating Pella Ambulance, an increase in liability and property insurance, and reduced state resources as the reasons for the potential increase. Tuesday’s meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the Pella Public Safety Complex.
