The Pleasantville Community School District is in the process of working on their facilities master plan, which outlines upgrades and renovations for the foreseeable future.
Superintendent Tony Aylsworth says since he began at Pleasantville ten years ago, one of his priorities has been maintaining and repairing the facilities within the district. Aylsworth says that the school district has been working with construction experts, staff members, and community members to determine priority projects for the next 20 years. Aylsworth added that a unique part of this process was getting to hear feedback and thoughts from students.
“It was super cool a week ago, we actually invited upper elementary students to participate in that process, we had junior high students, we had high school students, and so generally I can predict what the adults will say, but it was kind of a curveball for me to hear from the kids, the actual end users of all these facilities. So a very cool opportunity to hear their leadership and get them involved with some of these planning procedural things.”
