Knoxville Thrower Ciara Heffron will throw this discus at the Drake Relays. Heffron made sure she would qualify this season as she set the Blue Standard on her first outdoor meet of the season with a throw of 141 feet three inches which not only automatically qualified her for the Drake Relays, but also set another school record that she has held since last season. Heffron tells KNIA/KRLS Sports it is an honor to qualify for the Drake Relays, and adds she is not done trying to get to the top.

Heffron: “I’m excited to go up and compete there, anytime you get to Drake there’s a lot of energy there. I’m still trying to get PRs and if they happens, you are making progress.”

According to Bound, Heffron has the 3rd overall best distance in the discus in the state regardless of class and is 2nd in the state in class three only being outdistanced by Charlee Morton of Hampton-Dumont-Cal by just under two inches. Tuesday’s meet at Ottumwa was rained out, the next time the Knoxville Girls Track and Field Squad is in action is Tuesday at Chariton.
