The Webb Shadle Public Library in Pleasantville will host Dave Baker Friday evening.

Baker is an author, researcher, storyteller, and photographer for the Iowa History blog “The 29th State.” Webb Shadle Public Library Director Jo Ellen Glick says that as part of the event, Baker will share history about Marion County and the ghost towns that used to inhabit it.

“He will be here to discuss his own ties to Marion County. He’ll discuss the past and present, which he calls the hall of communities, which is all the towns in Marion County. And he’ll discuss ghost towns of Marion County which include Red Rock, Coalport, Oradell and so many more of them, and then he’ll just mostly discuss the importance of community and history.”

The event with Dave Baker will be held at 6 pm at the library and is free and open to the public.
