Panther Tennis Squads Enjoy Twin 7-2 Wins Over Davis County
While morning showers dampened local facilities, many of our local sports teams were able to get dried out and play their events. The Knoxville Boys Tennis Squad had to take an hour to squeegee the Joel Tonda Tennis Courts off before its match against Davis County, but was able to get the meet in and win over the Mustangs 7-2. Henry Picard, Jimmy McCormick, Eli Bumgardner, Jack Felton and Talon Brown all won singles matches and the Panthers took 2/3 doubles matches. The girls had to wait over four hours to start their meet in Bloomfield but when it was over, the Panthers also took care of Davis County 7-2. Janie Maasdam, Kate Schneider, Iselynn Prevo, Bridgette Liston, and Marlea Cox all won in singles with the Panthers winning two of three doubles matches. The girls will host their own invitational on Friday.

Knoxville Girls Golf 9th At Oskaloosa Invitational
The girls golf squad finished 9th at the 18-hole Oskaloosa Invitational. Playing at a dampened Edmundson Golf Course, the Panthers shot a 440 and had two players place in the top ten individually. Faith Roozeboom was overall runner-up with an 85 and Caelie Smith shot a 93 to finish in 10th place. Smith was on varsity last season, and after her rookie season as a varsity player she tells KNIA/KRLS revisiting courses this season is helping her game.
Smith: “It really helped me show after I come back to those courses I can remember a hole or what I did there. Definitely my putting and chipping I need to get better at and my swing on my drives.”
Knoxville at Chariton on Tuesday.
