The Knoxville City Council approved a Habitat for Humanity grant application at their meeting Monday night.
Habitat for Humanity is in the process of purchasing four lots from Cartwright Properties LLC to build two family homes and two duplexes. The City of Knoxville approved $20,000 from their Low Moderate Income (LMI) funds to be granted to Habitat for Humanity for the purchase of these lots in the East Village subdivision. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery says this grant helps with Habitats home loan application they are working on.
“Habitat is working with front porch developments on a federal home loan application. For that application for the city to be able to contribute LMI funds toward that application it helps with their scoring improvements.”
Habitat intends to reserve a portion of these units for veterans and another portion for seniors and those with disabilities.
