Knoxville Soccer Squads Win Conference Matches
Both Knoxville Soccer Squads came away with identical 2-0 wins. The girls blanked Albia with goals coming from Payton Horn and Anna Anderson. Coach Bethany Johnson told KNIA/KRLS Sports halftime adjustments were key as her team had better communication. A dominant 2-0 win was what Boys Coach Dylan Mick called his team’s win over Chariton on Friday. Jay Kellar and Jensen Finnegan had tallies and Carson Cecil had four saves and played well in net. The girls have won three matches in a row and stand at 4-4 on the season and will host Chariton on Monday while the boys also improve to 4-4 and will travel to Newton on Monday.
Knoxville Girls Tennis 5th At Panthers Invitational
The Knoxville Girls Tennis Squad finished 5th at its own invitational on Friday scoring six team points. Pella won the event with 23 points. Individually for Knoxville Janie Maasdam placed 3rd in singles. She defeated Ava Easter of Ballard 4-0 and 4-1 but lost to Mallory Westercamp of Pella in the semifinals but would come back to defeat Madison Rinehart of Newton for 3rd place. Bridgette Liston was able to defeat Emily Glenn of Clarke in the first round before falling to Newton’s Rinehart in the quarterfinals. She then went to the consolation round where her day ended at the hands of Josie Mahan of Creston. Both of Knoxville’s doubles teams fell in their opening round matches and only the team Kate Schneider and Mackenzie Karr were able to win in the consolation round. S
