Norwalk rounded out the week with decisive wins over Newton in girls soccer and boys tennis on Friday.

Girls Soccer wins 7-0

The Class 2A fifth-ranked Warrior girls soccer team notched their second shutout in as many nights, topping Newton 7-0 to halt the Cardinals’ five-game winning streak. Junior Braelyn Clark led the Warriors with two goals and two assists, increasing her goal count to a team-leading nine on the year. Anna Larson, Addison Burch, Pearl Brown, Avery Drymon and Maya Butler each scored one goal while Larson, Brown and Ellie Dueland added assists.

Norwalk improved to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. Their next game is Monday night at Class 3A second-ranked West Des Moines Valley.

Boys Tennis wins 8-3

The Warrior boys tennis team earned a fourth consecutive win on Friday, defeating Newton 8-3. Braylon Stockwell, Drew Lents, Corbin Oswald and Lane Juergens all won singles matches for Norwalk. Lents won a pair of 7-6 tiebreaker sets and Juergens rallied to win his match in a third-set super tiebreaker. Norwalk doubles winners included Adrian Bush and Stockwell, Juergens and Eli Mills, Carson Menke and Oswald, and Wyatt Black and Wyatt Coburn, who had the most lopsided win of the day at 6-0, 6-1.

The Warriors are now 4-1 overall and 4-0 in conference duals, and will host Urbandale on Monday afternoon.
