Pella’s boys golfers bounced back from a wet and soggy day at Bos Landen to a windy one in northern Iowa, placing 2nd at the West Delaware Invitational Friday. The Dutch had a team score of 334, fueled by the trio of Cade McGinley, AJ Hoekstra, and Kyler Besick each scoring 83 and Cole Floden’s 85. Pella was seven strokes shy of winner Waverly-Shell Rock. The Dutch are scheduled again for varsity action on Tuesday.
The Pella girls tennis team showed off their depth while missing two varsity regulars at the Knoxville Invitational, winning the tournament Friday afternoon late into the evening. Without three-time individual state qualifier Emily Blom and starter Bryn Higginbotham, the Dutch stepped up and found victory at No. 1 Doubles with Lily Van Dusseldorp and Alloree Else, a runner-up finish at singles with Mallory Westerkamp, 5th place from Abby Hietbrink in that same bracket, and 6th with the pair of Sydney Namminga and Kytilin Plate. Pella returns to action Tuesday at home vs. Newton.
