For the past eight years, students from Pella Middle School have gathered annually to support the hungry. In that time frame, more than 180,000 meals have been packaged through Meals from the Heartland in the building — and another 20,000 were collected Friday. Members of the Pella Middle School Student Council apply for a grant from the Pella Community Foundation annually to fund the project, dating back to a tradition started by then-7th grader Hannah Nedder in 2016-17 and that continues each year.
