The Indianola boys and girls tennis teams matched up with Newton on Monday, while the girls golf team braved the windy conditions at Veenker Golf Course in Ames, and the Indianola girls track and field team was at Saydel.
The Indianola boys tennis team defeated the Cardinals 7-4, with Bryson Rehmeier, Erik Jensen, Justus Woell, Nate Winjum, and Eli Chadwick getting wins in singles, while the doubles pairings of Chadwick/Woell and Blake Byers/Tate Dales got wins.
The girls tennis squad won 10-1 over the Cardinals. Brynn Bishop, Emily Allen, Zoey Belt, Ceris Askelson, and Maci Lerseth winning in singles, while sweeping the doubles matches with the teams of Keely Greubel/Bishop, Audra Dowler/Askelson, Allen/Lerseth, Belt/Paige Dahl, and Lauren Danielson/Addie Wangler.
The boys are now 6-4 and host North Polk today, the girls are 5-2 and host Dallas Center-Grimes on Thursday.
The Indianola girls golf team struggled with the difficult greens at Veenker on Monday, shooting a 4-6 to place 7th. Individual leaders for the Indians included Abbie Corbett leading the day with a 99, Alexa Inman with a 101, Amelia Moorlach with a 102, and Camryn Overton shooting a 104. The Indians don’t have a lot of turnaround time, heading to Pella Country Club today for the second of three Little Hawkeye Conference meets.
The girls track team won the Saydel Invitational with 212.5 team points. First place finishers included Tessa Gripp in the 100m, Josie McGraw in the 100m Hurdles, Lilly Hoger in the 400m Hurdles, Jordyn Brown in the 800m, Leah Hartford in the 1500m, Ava Tichy in the Discus, Madi Grover in the High Jump, Katie Kluver in the Shot Put, as well as the Shuttle Hurdle Relay and 4x800m Relay. The Indians take the rest of the week off until the Drake Relays begin this weekend.
