Girls Soccer Defeats Chariton, Boys Fall To Newton
The Knoxville Girls Soccer Squad scored a 2-0 shutout of Chariton and got on the right side of the 500 mark while the boys had a frustrating night at H.A. Lynn Stadium in Newton in a 4-2 loss. The girls got goals from Ava VanDonselaar just a little over 3:00 into the match, and Natalie Collins put it away in the2nd half for her first goal of the season. Senior Player Charlye Willis tells KNIA/KRLS Sports what makes the team so tough to defend is no one is dominating the scoring.
Willis: “We know that each person can handle their own, and Natalie Collins her first goal ever in her first season. Taking the younger girls and showing them how things go just makes us a more well rounded team.”
The Panthers are 5-4 on the season and travel to Atlantic on Friday. The boys, according to Coach Dylan Mick dug themselves too big of a hole to get out of and fell 4-2. Ezra Schmidt scored first on a corner then Jensen Finnegan off an assist from Connor Willis for the Panthers’ other tally. Carson Cecil had six saves. The boys are right back at the Randy Wilson Track against Albia.
