Pella Christian Boys Golf Begins Busy Week by Winning the PCM Invite

The Pella Christian boys golf team began a busy week by winning the PCM Invite on Monday afternoon.

Battling through the windy conditions at Gateway Recreation Golf Course in Monroe, the Eagles posted a team score of 322, which bested second place Des Moines Christian by eight strokes. The Eagles were once again led by junior Eliot Menninga on the day, who claimed the meet medalist honor with a +3 over par score of 75. Pella Christian got an additional two top ten finishes, as Deacon Branderhorst was fourth after carding a 79 and Isaiah Breems finished sixth with a score of 82. Cooper Spronk rounded out the Eagles scoring with an 86 on the day. Carter Brand and Landon Fransman were the other varsity players in action, shooting a 90 and 92, respectively.

The Pella Christian boys golf team is back on the course today, competing in the 16-team Oskaloosa Invitational at Edmundson Golf Course at 1 pm.

Eagles Track and Field, Soccer, and Tennis Teams Competing Today

In addition to the boys golf team competing today, the rest of the Pella Christian spring sports teams are set to be back in action this evening.

The Eagles tennis teams are slated to square off Dallas Center-Grimes today, with the girls hosting the Mustangs and the boys competing at DCG Oak View in Grimes. With last Thursday’s match against Indianola being canceled, the Pella Christian girls last competed a week ago in a 6-5 loss to Norwalk. The Eagle boys managed to get their contest in against Indianola on Thursday, falling to 2-5 on the season with a 7-4 loss.

The Pella Christian track and field teams will split up this evening to get one final tuneup in ahead of the Drake Relays later this week. Coming off a fourth place finish at the Newton Coed Meet last Thursday, the Eagle girls travel to Chariton tonight to compete in the Charger Relays. The Pella Christian boys, who finished sixth at Newton last week, will trek down Highway 163 this evening to compete in the EBF Rocket Relays at Eddyville-Blakesburg Fremont.

Wrapping up today’s events for the Eagles spring sports teams, will be the soccer squads squaring off with Indianola. The Pella Christian girls host the Indians on Eagle Lane, while looking to improve to 6-3 on the season following a 1-0 shutout win against Chariton. The Eagle boys travel to Indianola tonight, competing for the first time since dropping a late 3-2 decision against Central Iowa United last Monday.

Pella Christian’s tennis matches against Dallas Center-Grimes are scheduled to start at 4:15 pm, with the track and field meets at Chariton and Eddyville-Blakesburg Fremont beginning shortly thereafter at 4:30 pm. The Eagles soccer games against Indianola will be the final events to begin, with both contests kicking off at 5:30 pm.
