The Indianola girls golf team took home a win in the second of three Little Hawkeye Conference golf meets Tuesday, part five spring sports teams in action for the Indians.
The girls golf team narrowly came out on top over rival Norwalk by one stroke shooting a 368 at the Pella Country Club. Camryn Overton earned meet medalist honors shooting an 81, Abbie Corbett shot a 92, Alexa Inman carded a 97, and Amelia Moorlach shot a 98. The team has a long layoff, not hitting the links again until May 2nd.
The Indians boys track and field team won the Carlisle Wildcats Relays Tuesday scoring 140 points. First place finishers for Indianola included the 4x800m Relay, Reed Robbins in the 800m, and Lathan McDaniel in the Shot Put. Other top finishers included Jake Pontier 3rd in the 400m, Sam Appel 3rd in the 1600m, the 4x100m Relay placed 2nd, the 4x400m Relay placed 3rd, Kaisen Storm placed 2nd in the High Jump, Graham Hilton in the Long Jump, and Aiden Curtis in the Discus.
The Indianola boys tennis team fell to North Polk 7-4. The Indians fell behind in singles play with Eli Chadwick earning a win, then the doubles teams of Chadwick/Justus Woell, Ben Mahlstadt/Thomas DeWall, and Blake Byers/Seb Cooper.
The Indianola boys soccer team defeated Pella Christian in Little Hawkeye Conference play 3-1. The first half seemed scoreless until Indianola broke through with an Allan Martinez goal to put them up 1-0 at the break. Martinez then scored on his own rebound after a blocked penalty kick to put Indianola up 2-0. The Eagles scored to make it 2-1, but Jakob Kjellberg found the back of the net to put the contest away. The boys are now 4-8 and play at Waukee tomorrow.
The Indianola girls soccer team overcame Pella Christian in double overtime 4-3. The Indians struck first on a goal from Lake Martin, then after the Eagles tied the score Isabelle Crookes put them back out in front 2-1, and Martin found the back of the net again before halftime to lead 3-1 at the break. Indianola gave up two goals in the second half however to force overtime, and in the second overtime period Lauren Burk scored on a free kick to end it. The girls are now 4-6 and host Des Moines Lincoln tomorrow.
