Early Goals Help Boys Soccer Roll Over Albia

Six of the eight spring sports were in action for Knoxville on one of busiest nights so far. The boys soccer squad rolled over Albia 7-2 and it did not take long for the Panthers to tally a score as Connor Willis scored one of his two goals of the night just 6:00 into the match. Rylan Robinson also scores twice with Hunter Gray, Ezra Schmidt and Kaison Wilder scoring. Schmidt tells KNIA/KRLS Sports after they lost a tough match to Albia earlier in the season, it was nice to get some revenge.

Schmidt: “I think we were the better team and we were ready to go playing on our turf that we practice on and we got ready.”

Knoxville is 5-5 and will host Pella Christian on Friday.

Boys Golf Wins Triangular at Pleasantville

The Knoxville Boys Golf Squad had little trouble navigating the Pleasantville Golf and Country Club winning a triangular over Carlisle and Boone. The Panthers shot a 149 to Carlisle’s 166. Evan Smith was meet medallist with a -2 33 and Noah Keefer was runner up with a +2 37. Other scores were: Mike Devos 39, Carson Uitermarkt 40, Brady Roozeboom and Urban Ziller 41. The Panthers are scheduled to play in Monroe against Chariton and PCM on Friday.

Knoxville Girls Tennis Shuts Out Chariton, Boys Lose A Close On To Chargers

It was a split decision for Knoxville and Chariton in tennis on Tuesday. The girls dominated the Chargers winning 9-0 and only dropping seven games the entire meet. The boys fell in a close contest to the Chargers 5-4. The meet was tied at three going into the doubles matches where Chariton won two of the three doubles matches. Henry Picard, Eli Bumgarnder, and Jack Felton won in singles.

Knoxville Boys And Girls Track Compete At Separate Events

Both Knoxville Track and Field Squads went their separate ways as the boys were at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont and the girls went to Chariton. For the boys, Coach Eric Kellar ran a light line up resting some of the top runners. The Panthers still brought home several medals as Kaiden Smith won the high jump with a height of 6/3. Drake Relays Qualifier Koby Higginbotham took first in the 110 high hurdles and the Panthers distance medley relay took 1st. At Chariton, the Panther girls placed 5th as Ciara Heffron swept the throws winning the shot put and discus events. Hannah Dunkin added a 2nd place in the 400 with a time of 1:05.
