The Marion County Roads Department is set to begin multiple road construction projects this spring and summer throughout the county.
Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian says that the first project they will be working on is the continued shoulder paving near Gosport.
“A project that is still ongoing would be the G76 shoulder paving in the Gosport area, so this would be just west of Highway 14 on G76. That shoulder paving project is set to resume May 6th. You can anticipate a one lane road in that particular area with flaggers and a pilot car.”
Christian added that another major project they will be working on will take place on Highway G28, but a start date for that project has not yet been determined.
“We also have a major highway construction project on G28 north of the lake, so this is from Highway 14 all the way to the Pella corporate limit, and it will be a five to six weeks, at best, project, possibly longer. So, you can anticipate delays and a flagger and pilot car there for a couple of months on G28. Right now, we’re being told May for a start date, but we don’t have that nailed down to a particular date at this point.”
