The Twin Cedars and Melcher-Dallas School Districts will be moving to four-day school weeks next academic year.

According to Superintendent Scott Bridges, next school year’s schedule will be Tuesdays through Fridays and those days will be extended by a half hour. Bridges says that the time added to those school days will allow the academic year to begin and end around the same time as in previous years. Bridges adds that while both districts will have the majority of Mondays off, some have been built into the calendar for snow days.

“We will use those Mondays towards the end of the year for any snow makeup days, so that we do not have to increase or extend the school year for snow makeups, unless there’s some massive snowstorm that shuts us down for a long period of time. So, we’re building those Monday’s in as snow makeup days, so there may be some more five-day school weeks towards the end of the school year because of that.”
