The Marion County Roads Department is set to begin multiple road construction projects this spring and summer throughout the county.
With several projects scheduled to begin in the upcoming weeks, Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian reminds residents to be cautious of construction crews and heavy machinery on area roadways. Christian says drivers should be on high alert for signs indicating construction areas and for flaggers helping direct traffic. In addition to construction areas and machinery, Christian reminds residents to watch out for city and county maintenance crews to ensure everyone stays safe this spring and summer.
“As our maintenance crews make their way throughout the county, we have slow moving equipment ourselves. Whether that’s tractors mowing the shoulders or some of our excavating and road grading equipment just moving about the county, they will have their slow moving vehicle signs and their amber flashing beacons, so just give them a little extra time and caution as you’re passing and maneuvering around them.”
