Pella Christian Boys Golf Takes 3rd at Washington Invite 

The Pella Christian boys golf team further extended their lead in the Little Hawkeye Conference regular season race with a 3rd place finish at the Washington Invite Monday afternoon. 

All four conference teams participated in the meet at Blue Top Ridge golf course in Riverside,  along with 7 other teams. The Eagles were the top finishers out of the Little Hawkeye schools, posting a team score of 318. Pella Christian was led once again by junior Eliot Menninga, who shot a +1 over par 73 to finish as the runner up in the meet. Isaiah Breems had a top 10 finish as well, posting a +5 over par 77 to take eighth place. Junior Deacon Branderhorst finished in 22nd place with a +11 over par 83 and Cooper Spronk rounded out the team scoring with a +13 over par 85. Landon Fransman and Carter Brand rounded out the Eagles lineup on the day, shooting a 93 and 95 respectively.  

Pella Christian next competes at the Colfax-Mingo Invitational on Friday, before finishing up the regular season with the last conference meet at Newton’s Westwood Golf Course on Monday. 

Pella Christian Girls Tennis Sweeps Centerville

The Pella Christian girls tennis team cruised to a 10-0 sweep in making quick work of Centerville Monday afternoon.

Rachel Lanferman kicked off the match with a near sweep of her #1 singles opponent, winning 8-1. Reagan De Vries added an 8-4 victory at #2 singles, while Leah Mulder, Ava Breems, Lexi Branderhorst, and Addie Van Arendonk all won 8-2 in the #3-#6 spots in the lineup. In doubles play, De Vries and Van Arendonk at #1 and Lanferman and Branderhorst at #2 were each 8-1 winners, while Leah Mulder and Ava Breems at #3 and Ranae Van Wyk and Breece Gibson at #4 swept their opponents 8-0. The #5 doubles team of Kate Braafhart and Lauren Winn were unable to record a match Monday, due to Centerville only having eight players. With the win, the Eagles moved a game above .500 on the season, pushing their record to 5-4 overall.

The Pella Christian girls tennis team will have today to rest up, before returning to the courts at 9 am Wednesday morning for the Little Hawkeye Conference Meet at Pella’s Caldwell Park.
