The Pella Public Library is hosting the traveling exhibit, Pictures of Nursing: The Zwerdling Postcard Collection, until Saturday, June 8th.
The exhibit presents a selection of postcards that features images spanning a century of nursing and investigates the hold these images have on public imagination then and now. The library will have scheduled programming to complement the exhibit including:
- One Nurse’s Perspective on Tuesday, May 7th at 6:30 p.m. – Joan Vande Krol Zylstra BSN, RN started working at Pella Regional Health Center in 1967 and she’ll share her personal nursing journey with its challenges, rewards and changes as PRHC has grown over the decades.
- Nursing – From Our Own Perspective on Thursday, May 9th at 6:00 p.m. – A panel of current and former nurses will discuss their experiences, the ways that they have each seen the profession change over the years, and their hopes for the future. This will be moderated by Dr. Bob Leonard.
- Brown Bag Book Club on Thursday, May 30th at noon. – The group will discuss Taking Care: The Story of Nursing and Its Power to Change Our World by Sarah Degregorio.
The presentations on May 7th and the 9th will be held in the Library’s Meeting Room and the book discussion on May 30th will take place in the Heritage Room.
