The Pleasantville American Legion Post and Auxiliary Unit 108 will host their spring breakfast and dedication for their Blue Star Memorial marker on Saturday Morning.
The marker was sponsored by the Knoxville Federated Garden Club in cooperation with the Pleasantville American Legion Auxiliary Unit and the Vander Linden Memorial Fund. Sandra Chrisman with the Knoxville Federated Garden Club says that the Blue Star Program was founded by the National Garden Clubs as a way to honor all who have served in the military.
“The Blue Star marker pays tribute to the men and women who have defended and served in our armed forces. The program has been in existence, through the Garden Club, for more than 70 years. The National Garden Clubs is committed to placing Blue Star markers on highways and byways in honor of our nation’s armed forces.”
Prior to the dedication of the marker, the Pleasantville American Legion and Auxiliary will host their spring breakfast. The menu will include biscuits and gravy, pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, fruit cups, coffee, and milk.
The breakfast Saturday morning will be held at Pleasantville Memorial Hall from 7 to 10 am and the dedication will take place after the breakfast. Hear more about the breakfast and dedication from Sally Vander Linden and Sandra Chrisman on an upcoming In Touch with South Central Iowa.
