A ceremony will be held to honor Knoxville scholarship recipients at the Knoxville Performing Arts Center on Wednesday.
This event is a presentation of all the scholarships that students have been awarded either through the Knoxville Panther Scholarship Foundation or through community partners. Any student who applies for a scholarship through the Panther Scholarship Foundation will receive a scholarship, and scholarships are also awarded to those who are entering their second, third, or fourth year of college. The community partner scholarships are scholarships given by generous organizations, businesses, people, memorials, and other causes in the Knoxville community. Knoxville College Career Readiness Coordinator Tyler Pearson says there are close to 300 total scholarships given out on one night.
“This year alone we have over 70 first year students getting a scholarship from the Knoxville Panther Scholarship Foundation, and then there are about 135 or so that are getting a second, third, or fourth year scholarship. Then on the flip side of that, the community side, we have over 70 community scholarships given out, so in total we have almost 300 total scholarships given to students for their first, second, third, or fourth year of postsecondary training.”
The event will start at 7:00 pm and if you are not able to attend in person you can watch the ceremony live using this link. Hear more from Tyler Pearson about scholarship night on an upcoming Let’s Talk Knoxville.
