Norwalk Girls Golf Team

The Norwalk girls golfers posted an 18-hole school record on Thursday while the girls track and field team tied for second in their home invitational.

Girls Golf shoots a 350

Following a morning rain delay, the Warrior girls golfers shot a school-record team score of 350 at the Southeast Polk Invitational, placing fourth out of 14 schools. Gilbert won the meet with an incredible round of 301. The tournament was held at the Copper Creek Golf Club.

Four Norwalk girls scored in the 80s, led by Mariola Torro Abad’s round of 84. Lydia Krueger carded an 88, Evelyn Kinney and Ava Garvey both posted an 89 and Addie Smith added a 90. The Warriors return to competition on Monday for a Little Hawkeye Conference meet at the Indianola Country Club.

Girls Track places 2nd

The Norwalk Girls Track Invitational was also held on Thursday, with the host Warriors scoring 30 points to tie for second place out of four teams. Indianola won the meet with 60. Only 17 events were held as the grounds were too wet for the shot put and discus.

Norwalk won four relays on the night. Winning teams included Ella Johnson, Kaia Stoulil, Leah Crick and Jillian Hammond in the shuttle hurdle, Hailey Gear, Savannah Welch, Ashlyn Brown and Grace DeRocher in the distance medley, Welch, Jaylynn Brandt, Kennedy Robbins and Audrey Graves in the 4×200 and Welch, Gear, Brandt and Nyah Hulbert in the 4×100.

The Warriors finish the regular season at Monday’s Oskaloosa Invite.
