Two men who keep the Tulip Time parades in motion are being recognized for years of service to the festival. Kevin Van Haaften and Ruben Mejia are the 2024 Tulip Time Volunteer Award Winners.

For many years, Kevin Van Haaften has been a cornerstone in maintaining the functionality and fun of Pella Historical Museums’ floats. This responsibility ensures that every float is not just operational, but a testament to Pella’s heritage.

Ruben Mejia has served as the official “Float Fixer” for Pella Historical Museums for many years. This year-round commitment involves countless hours of upkeep, restoration, and renovation of the floats. During the festival, those skills become even more critical as unforeseen circumstances sometimes occur mid-parade.
