Road construction on County Highway G28 between Pella and Highway 14 is set to begin next week.
The roadway will be one lane for the project, which will include milling, asphalt overlay, and guardrail improvements. This project will have various stages of construction each impacting travel with flaggers and pilot cars in one- to two-mile increments. Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian says that drivers that utilize Highway G28 should allot extra time in their travel plans, as delays will occur.
“There’s lots of traffic volume on G28, as well as multiple rural subdivisions that will be impacted by the project, because their access will be either restricted or delayed. So, any motorist that is traveling on G28 can expect to see delays, basically for, I would say six to eight weeks beginning on May, 15 or thereabout whenever they get started.”
The improvements are anticipated to take between six to eight weeks. Hear more about upcoming road projects in Marion County from Engineer Tyler Christian on an upcoming In Touch with South Central Iowa.
