In addition to the ongoing road closure at Flagler Bridge, the Marion County Roads Department is set to begin a safety improvement project at the intersection of County Highways T15 and S71 in early June.

The project will include paving the shoulders, a 1.5″ overlay of a high friction surface treatment, and adding centerline and edgeline rumble strips. The road construction on what is known as Chrisman Corner is scheduled to begin on June 10th, and one lane roads are expected for approximately one week. With multiple projects set to begin on T15 and Highway 92, Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian says drivers should plan their travels accordingly.

“With the detour around Flagler, and lane closures there, and upcoming potential lane closures or full closures on Red Rock Dam, it may be best just to avoid T15 here for a while if you can over the next couple of months and utilize Highway 92 to T17 if you’re traveling between Knoxville and Pella or vice versa. Highway 92 will be under construction as well. The Iowa DOT has projects there so it’s a very busy year. Actually, what I would encourage people to do if they really want to avoid construction the most between Knoxville and Pella, would be to utilize T17 to Old Highway 92.”
