The Pella City Council approved several agenda items after a three-week gap between meetings at their regular session Tuesday evening. The council held two public hearings — one for bids for sanitary sewer lining projects, a contract which was awarded to Municipal Pipe Tool Company for $207,000, and another for approval of a lease-purchase agreement for 56 new golf carts at Bos Landen for $370,575 over five years with NB Golf.

Resolutions on the agenda also included accepting repairs at the Bos Landen conference center, scheduling a public hearing for Union Street reconstruction from East 3rd to Morningside on June 18th, approving a $49,000 contract with Hopkins Roofing for a project replacing the roof at city hall, and a partnership between Wonder Spelen and the City of Pella for phase three improvements at Kiwanis Park.

The council approved the second reading of an ordinance allowing microbreweries in the Central Business District with special event permits, as well as second readings for zoning changes near Pella Christian Grade School. An ordinance was also moved forward to increase water rates by seven percent. During policy and planning, a discussion was held about proposed employee benefit enhancements.
