Make it back-to-back seasons that the individual boys tennis qualifying tournament belonged to the green and white of Pella High School. The Dutch boys were able to sweep the two singles and doubles qualifying bids that will send six athletes to the Class 1A individual state tournament. Jack Briggs was the district champion in singles and the doubles duo of Cameron Rowe and Joshua Roozeboom were the doubles winners. Teammates Ben Van Gorp and the pairing of Nile Rozenboom and Jordan Shaffer were runners-up and also earned state tournament bids. It’s the second consecutive season Pella won all available qualifying bids. The Dutch begin the team’s postseason journey Saturday at home.

In Oskaloosa, the Pella boys golf team forged one step closer to Ames and the state tournament by winning the 3A sectional meet. Five Dutch players shot in the 70s to card a 305, which included Cade McGinley’s 72, 76 from Kyler Besick, 78 from AJ Hoekstra, and 79 each from Cole Floden and Luke Naig. Pella will attempt to return to the state tournament for the first time since 2022 when they head to Williamsburg for the district meet on Monday.
