The City of Indianola is moving forward with the City Hall/Public Safety Building Project, which is expected to go out to the public for a bond vote this November. City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News a lot of the preliminary work is currently being completed in the design phase, and the need for a new building is growing in order to support the growing emergency departments.
“We have brought on OPN Architects, they have been designing and doing preliminary work with all the needs assessments with our various departments over the last several months and they have some great preliminary plans that we are working on. We brought a construction manager on very early so they can help size and scope and pick materials that are cost effective for the residents. It’s under a new program by the State of Iowa called Construction Manager At-Risk, that allows us to bring a construction manager on early to get a guaranteed maximum price so we don’t have change orders and we have a good, solid rendering and good solid project for the public to consider on the November 2024 ballot.”
