There will be plenty of green and white heading to the famous Blue Oval at Drake Stadium after another year of strong performances for Pella’s storied track and field programs at the state qualifying meet Thursday in Saydel. The Dutch boys were 1st and the girls were 2nd as they battled with strong athletes from Gilbert and Newton in particular for the chance to compete at Drake Stadium next week. Not only did Pella score 20 total automatic state qualifiers by placing 1st or 2nd in their respective events, multiple Dutch athletes should receive at-large bids based on times and distances. Hear from some of the Pella track and field state qualifiers on Today’s Lely Radio Sports Page.
