The City of Indianola is applying for membership in the State of Iowa Main Street Iowa Program, developed by the Iowa Economic Development Authority to help provide resources for downtown revitalization. City of Indianola Deputy City Manager/Chief of Development and Operations Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News a successful application would allow the city and local business owners to take advantage of state resources.
“What this would do for the city of Indianola is, it would create an organization who would be solely responsible for the activities in the downtown. It would provide that group with its own executive manager who would be in charge of the day-to-day, going ons in the downtown. Think of it kind of like a chamber of commerce but just maybe just a little bit more scaled down to the scale of the downtown.
The city is partnering with the Indianola Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Merchants, and others in the community, with the application due in late May. Find the full interview and more information about the Main Street Iowa Program below.
