The Knoxville City Council approved the final contract for the VA Park trail connections project at their meeting Monday.

This project included a connection of the existing trail with the Veteran’s District Park, and the work was reviewed by the city staff and engineers and meets the requirements of the plans and specifications for the project. The total cost for the project was $365,002. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery says she is happy with how the connection turned out.

“The trail extension that started at Randy Wilson Track that went down Willets and through the new Veterans District and ending at Young’s Park is close to a mile. It’s not significant in distance, but the connection itself is very significant. It’s a great addition to our trail system overall and we were very pleased with the project and contractor for it.”

The project was completed by Howery Construction LLC.
