The Simpson softball team survived a comeback attempt against Nebraska Wesleyan in the quarterfinal round of the American Rivers Conference tournament Friday 3-1 in nine innings.

The Storm scored on an RBI hit from Kate Kriegel in the first inning to lead 1-0, and that lead would hold until the bottom of the seventh when the Prairie Wolves scored down to their final out to tie the score. Neither team scored in the eighth, but the Storm pushed through in the ninth to push across two runs on a Maddie Luderman line drive that was misplayed for an error, and the pitching held on to win.

Simpson now matches up with rival Central today in the semifinals at 12:30pm.
