A Simpson College student and multiple faculty members earned community awards this spring from the Seed Coalition, formerly known as the Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact, for their work in the community.

Araceli Tapetillo earned the Presidents’ Student Leadership Award for tutoring elementary students, and participated in numerous volunteer activities as a Wesley Service Scholar.

Faculty members Aswati Subramanian and John Pauley earned the Presidents’ Civic Engagement Leadership Award, for working alongside members of the City of Indianola, Warren County, and the state of Iowa to address water problems faced by the immediate and broader Simpson community.
