The Norwalk boys tennis team was defeated by Fort Dodge 5-3 in the first round of Class 2A Team Substate competition at Mason City on Saturday.

Drew Lents, Wyatt Coburn and Lane Juergens recorded the Warriors’ three wins in singles play. The doubles team of Wyatt Black and Coburn led their match 6-1, 5-1 when the dual outcome was called.

Norwalk finished the 2024 dual season with a record of 6-2, but senior Adrian Bush and junior Braylon Stockwell are not done competing. Bush and Stockwell have qualified for the Class 2A State Doubles Tournament set for May 21-22 in Iowa City.

Baseball season starts Monday night

The 2024 high school baseball season begins Monday night as Norwalk hosts Urbandale. First pitch of the varsity game is set for 7:30. The Warriors, who finished 11-21 last summer, are scheduled to play four non-conference games this week.
