On a near perfect night for racing, Dusty Zomer did something he has not done in nine years, and something not many people have been able to do at the Knoxville Raceway, outrun Brian Brown to the checkered flag. Zomer won his first race at the raceway in nine years and had to hold off Brown for nearly the entire race. Zomer led 14 of the 24 laps and had to survive several restarts. Each time he would hit his marks on the bottom of turns one and two and when Brown would get a run Zomer went high to stop Brown’s momentum. Zomer told KNIA/KRLS Sports he was able to hit the bottom due to Sprint Car Legend and all-time Knoxville Raceway winner Danny Lasoski wrenching on the car.

Zomer: “I took a lot of notes from Lasoski right there. I tried to make him pass me on the outside and then in 3 and 4 I got too stagnate and I went high to block his momentum and I think that was for the better.”

Aaron Reutzel made up for crashing out of last week’s 360 A-Main by leading the last 12 laps to get the win. It was not all easy as Reutzel had to cut through traffic at the start and fend off Jamie Ball for the win. In the Pro Sprints, Mike Mayberry found something in the middle of the turns and drove around Casey Friedrichsen on lap four and controlled the remainder of the race. It will be another weekly show next Saturday at the Knoxville Raceway.
