May is school board appreciation month and Knoxville wants to recognize their dedicated school board members.

The group is made up of volunteers who put in countless hours making decisions for the school district. The current Knoxville School Board is made up of President Dave Smith, Vice-President Monica Sullivan, Susan Swartzendruber, Larry Scott, and Brian Slykhuis. Knoxville Community School District Superintendent Cassi Pearson says she appreciates the work of the board.

“Being a school board member is not easy by any means. It is an elected position. They do not get any compensation and they spend a lot of hours away from their family doing a really important job.”

Knoxville School Board meetings are held the second and fourth Monday of every month, including this evening.
