The splash pad is officially open in Knoxville’s Veterans District.
The opening weekend for the new splash pad was this past weekend and Knoxville Parks and Recreation Director Brandon Nemmers tells KNIA/KRLS that it was a success. The water features can be activated between 9:00 am – 9:00 pm seven days a week by pressing the button on the blue bollard. Nemmers reminds residents that when using the splash pad children who are not potty trained must wear a swim diaper, there is no running, no food or drink is allowed, and no glass containers are allowed.
“It’s pretty unique. Folks that haven’t seen it drive past there and try to figure out what’s going on, because we have canoes sticking out, trees, all kinds of crazy stuff there. It’s just nice to have an outdoor water feature, and we just hope people respect that area.”
Bathrooms next to the splash pad are also open and available to the public during hours of operation.
