The summer reading programs at the Pella Public Library will begin on Saturday, June 1st.
Youth Services Librarian Katie Dreyer says that programs will once again be held for participants of all ages. Additionally, Dreyer says that reading challenges for prizes will be returning as part of the summer reading program this year.
“The first prize is always a coupon to someplace here in town, local businesses donate different things. We also have Iowa Cubs tickets for a Sunday afternoon game in Des Moines and then also zoo tickets to the Blank Park Zoo, so we’re grateful that those two places in Des Moines also offer an incentive statewide to kids, so that’s great. The second prize is a book and our Friends of the Library donate that, that is our second and fourth level prize. And then our third level prize is a stem kit, so we always put together something with recycled materials that kids can make it home.”
