A Windsor Heights man was arrested on Monday on a felony domestic abuse assault charge stemming from an incident that occurred in February.

On the morning of February 1st, a Knoxville Police Officer was dispatched to a home for a report of domestic violence.  Officers spoke with the victim and a witness, who heard arguing coming from the residence. The victim allegedly told officers via text messages that the suspect, 27-year-old Michael Williams, was not allowing her to leave the home and had choked her. Officers attempted contact at the door of the residence for approximately 15-20 minutes before the victim came to the door. The victim stated that two more confrontations occurred before leaving the home. Officers then spoke with Williams, who reportedly stated that the altercations did occur.

Williams is charged with domestic abuse assault – third or subsequent offense, a Class D Felony. Bond has been set at $5,000 and a pretrial conference is scheduled for May 30th.
