Multiple injuries have been reported in a semi vs. farm implement crash just east of Pella on Highway 163 this afternoon. The Pella Police Department confirmed some details about the collision that was first reported to their office at 2:30 this afternoon east of Exit 44 near Mile Marker 45. As of 5:30 p.m., the Iowa DOT had the eastbound lanes closed for three hours. The status of the drivers involved has not been released, however, at least one person was transported by helicopter to a Des Moines-area hospital. The Iowa State Patrol is now handling the investigation. Responding agencies include the Pella Police Department, Pella Ambulance, Pella Fire, Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The Iowa DOT is handling the road closure at this time.
