The Norwalk boys soccer team opens postseason play at home on Monday night while the softball and baseball teams will also be in Norwalk for non-conference games.
Boys Soccer hosts Waverly-Shell Rock
After earning a first-round bye in Class 3A, Substate 6, the sixth-ranked and top-seeded Warrior boys soccer team begins their postseason by hosting Waverly-Shell Rock in a substate semifinal at 7:00 p.m. Norwalk brings a 9-8 overall record into the contest while the Go-Hawks are 5-11 following last week’s 2-1 overtime victory against Waterloo East. With a win, Norwalk will host Carlisle or Iowa City Liberty in Wednesday’s Substate 6 final at 7:00 p.m.
Softball season opener
The Norwalk softball team opens the 2024 season by hosting Ankeny at 7:00 p.m. The game will be streamed live on kniakrls.com (KNIA3), with pregame coverage starting at 6:45.
Expectations are high for the Warriors, who return the bulk of their roster from last year’s Class 4A third-place finisher at the State Tournament. Norwalk went 33-10 last season and has qualified for state the last two years. Ankeny finished 31-8 last season and was a Class 5A state qualifier.
Baseball hosts Carlisle
The Norwalk baseball team plays their first home game Monday night, taking on Carlisle at 7:30. The Warriors opened the season with three road losses last week. The Wildcats are 1-3.
